Tabou confirmed the signing of Phil Horrocks to their International Team with this PR PRESS RELEASE The Tabou Team is really happy that Gaastra Teamrider Phil Horrocks joins the family. Please find here his comments about the change! ' "I'm very happy to be riding on Tabou boards this coming season, I'd already had a couple of sessions on the water with them before I made the jump and I didn't need convincing! The Da Curve 74 has a really nice compact, radical feel to it, it just makes wave riding easier, I can decide where I want to go when and how fast. Joining the Gaastra  and Tabou team has given me the opportunity to input my ideas into the upcoming Wind and SUP ranges, it'll be good to work with Fabien in producing the best possible windsurfing equipment! Having an array of talented riders around to motivate and inspire is something I'm really looking forward too as well. My goals for this year are to compete on the UK and PWA world tour, but along side that, i just want to be spending as much time as I can sailing in the best conditions possible, on the best equipment possible!! so look out for me at a break near you! and come say hi!'

The PWA published their Provisional PWA 2012 Tour Schedule / Event Calendar . A new men-only Slalom event in Marseille, France, is penciled-in for June, and last season's opener in Vietnam (Freestyle and Slalom) is moved to the end of the year for a Grand Slam season finale. In recent seasons the German venue has hosted the traditional year end Freestyle or Slalom World Title prizegiving. Trophies will now be awarded at Mui Ne, Vietnam, but the Super Grand Slam at Sylt still boasts the highest earnings on offer. The PWA stated that Vietnam was scheduled for mid-March, but that 'due to delays in the confirmation of funding for the event, it has now been postponed until the end of the season'.They also mentioned that Cabo Verde is not on the current schedule but that negotiations are ongoing with the Government there and that, if green-lighted, an event will likely be short-notice to go ahead with a holding period before the middle of March.Otherwise, so far it looks like the same 4 [port tack] Wave events, 7 Slalom events (7 men / 5 women) and 7 Freestyle contests (7 men / 5 women). As yet, there is no mention of which contests will have live streaming.Â

Awful news for the Iggy and Naish families. Legendary Shaper Harold Iggy, who sculpted countless boards for Naish, died in the arms of Randy Naish yesterday after a tragic SUP accident on Oahu. Here is Randy's (Robby Naish's brother) own description of the incident as-taken from his Facebook page. May he RIP. EDIT Message from Robby Naish added below Bad day! Harold Ige,,,,, shaper, friend, and mentor, died in my arms today,,,,, We were testing new 18ft sup prototypes,,,, everything was fine,,,, Harold took a good one,,,, rode it a couple hundred yards. I was about 50 yards behind, when I whatched him collapse into the water. I got there as fast as I could. He'd been under 1 min or maybe 2,,,,,, time gets funny when one is put in this position. A passing kayak instructor helped out,had a phone on him and called 911. Kai Santos (good old friend and waterman) saw the pilikia and swam out with fins and together we tried to resuscitate Harold, we were towed in by an instructor from Kailua sailboards and kayaks(. Thanks Leo!) and a C and C lifeguard. Response time from Honolulu C and C was super,,,,,, when we got to the beach, the ambulance was pulling in. When I saw Harold go under,,, I knew something was up,,,,very unlike Harold,,,,,,,when he didn't come up after a few seconds,,,,,,,, I knew something was bad,,,,,,, We fought hard all the way to the beach to bring him back. Called out to Harold,,,, God, and anyone else who may have been listening to help us. I've never felt so helpless! I did all I could,,,, WE, did all we could I'm sorry ,,,, I'll never forget this day even if I want to The surfing world lost an icon, a legend, and a friend to many, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and,,,, a mentor. Love you uncle Harold. Aloha,,, Randy naishMessage from Robby NaishTHE PASSING OF A LEGENDOur world was rocked this week with the news that Harold Iggy, my dear friend and shaper for over thirty years had passed away from a heart attack while standup paddling in Kailua Bay.  His sudden death came as a shock to us all.   Harold was one of the purest, most humble, fittest, and seemingly healthiest men of any age that I have ever known. For those lucky enough to have known him, Harold Iggy was a very unique and inspiring man.  He loved shaping boards with all of his heart.  Harold had been making and riding boards of every shape and size basically his entire life, and did so with total commitment and passion.  He shaped with curiosity, an open mind, and a constant desire to improve and discover.  He shaped because he loved it.  Whether a shortboard, longboard, windsurfing wave or race board, paddleboard, standup short board or eighteen footer, Harold crafted and rode them all.  Harold Iggy was THE master shaper in every sense of the word, and a true waterman.  His eye, his hands, his feeling for curves and what they ultimately came together to do...and his magical ability to turn a block of foam into a functional work of art was legendary. His skills and dedication aside, he was simply one of the nicest human beings that ever lived.  He had so much to teach, so much to share, and so many amazing stories.  He was soft spoken with a wealth of knowledge, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything.  If there is a heaven, you can be sure that Harold was welcomed like few men before him. Harold's passing will leave a void in many hearts and many lives.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful wife, Susan, his two daughters, and his grandson.  I feel blessed to have been able to call him a friend, and I'll cherish my memories and all that he taught me forever.  Harold passed away doing what he loved.  He was in the ocean, riding a wave on his latest masterpiece.  May he RIP for eternity, and may his legacy live on through the people whose lives he touched and through the tens of thousands of boards around the world that came from his hands. I will miss you Harold. Love always,Robby and the entire Naish Ohana

Severne Sails gave official announcement that Cyril Moussilmani has signed for their international racing team with this PR/Interview Severne PR Interview CYRIL MOUSSILMANI SELECTS SEVERNE SV: Why did you choose SEVERNE? CM: I chose SEVERNE Sails because I need every advantage to win the World title. With North I had quite competitive equipment in high winds but 80% of the PWA events are in light winds. In light/medium winds equipment efficiency is a lot more important than in high winds. In light winds rider talent is not enough to win. I need the best equipment to reach my goal. SV: How long were you with North Sails? Why did your partnership end? CM: I was with North from 2006 - 2011. I decided to stop because I need a team behind that can push me to the top. With Severne Sails International and Hitech the French Distributor I will have all the tools I need to get to the higher steps of the podium. SV : How tall are you and what do you weigh? CM: My size is 1,96m and 93 kilos SV : What sizes will you register for the 2012 PWA season? CM: During this season I will use Severne REFLEX III 9,6 / 8,6 / 7,8 / 7,0 / 6,2 and 5,6 . I think the Starboard iSonic 127 will match with REFLEX III 9,6 and 8,6 iSonic 107 with REFLEX III 8,6 / 7,8. And iSonic 87 with the REFLEX III 7,0 / 6,2 / 5,6 SV: What are the fundamental differences between your old sails and the REFLEX III? CM: The big difference with my old sails is the less drag of the SEVERNE Sails and a really slippery, gliding feeling. One of the main keys is a perfect set up and working harmony between sail and mast. This is where Severne R and D is focused. If you have the wrong set up, nothing works. SV : Who is your biggest rival on tour for 2012? CM: Let 's be clear : Bjorn. With Bjorn as SEVERNE Sails Team partner I think we are setting up the best Team ever on the PWA. With both of us, we will help the brand rise to the highest level of windsurf history. Bjorn is a fabulous rider with an exceptional World Cup collection, but it's the first time I will fight against him on equal equipment with equal chances to win. Then I know I can be The Champion in front of him...! It's a fantastic challenge, and it will be a massively interesting season...! My other direct rivals could be Antoine, of course, and very closely behind Ben, Finian and Micah. SV: How big is the race scene in France? (Defi wind has an amazing amount of entrants) CM: France has a very big windsurfing scene in general. French people love to Windsurf and it's a big market with lot of different places to Windsurf with different kinds of conditions. The French competition scene is also big with lot of long distance and a quite high level French Championship. I'm member of the official French Sailing Federation Funboard Team. SV: Good luck Cyril CM: All the best and have a good sailing...!

Press Release: The tallest rider on the PWA-world tour, Dutchman Martin ten Hoeve (H-999), proudly announces he'll be using Goya boards for the 2012 season. Proper sponsorships from brands within the windsurf industry is hard to find these days, but with the help of his sponsors outside the windsurf industry (Aloha Beach Paviljoen, Van Someren Bodem en Water, Acernum Conculting and Quermo) Martin managed to turn a bad situation to his advantage: 'I wasn't really looking for the best deal, but for the best boards. I tried a lot of different boards in the last couple of months and really fell in love with the Goyas! I love the fact that the produce an 104-liter wave board. With my weight it's the perfect board for dodgy competition conditions. It's massive, but it turns on a dime and jumps like nothing else. I already landed a double forward with it!'  After a short chat with Lalo Goya, Martin even managed to secure a decent deal with Goya Boards. Martin's weapons of choice now include the Goya Pro Wave Series 104, 92 and 84, Aeron booms and a crisp set of his trusted Point-7 Sado's and Salt's. You can assist by purchasing stunning hi-def prints shot during the making of the movie at www.mindswideopenmovie.com from which Andre will donate 30 Euro from each sale.Â

Windsurfing Movie Quote Competition Time to have some fun. What is your all-time quote from a well-known windsurfing movie? The most hilarious line or cheesiest motto for life? We'll get umi pictures and a few riders to be the judging panel. We didn't actually asked umi yet, but we know they'll help for sure... We'll also try to get some prizes from the industry. Note to brand representatives - please mail us to let us know what you can give. If they're not feeling generous I'm sure there's some goodies we can dig up at WindsurferMag HQ. (Philip Koester's flip-flops got left in my car in Maui  - sure they're  probably a bit smelly but guaranteed to help your jumping? They must be worth a fortune as a collector''s items now no? Brian.) So, what you have to do is go to the Windsurfer Mag Facebook Page, 'Like' it of course dammit, and leave your quotation on the wall. Entry starts, err, now and closes, um, Nov 15th. Get on it. Here's some inspiration for the Old Skool...Â

Great looking forecast for the British Wavesailing Association's (BWA) 2011 Pura Vida Cornwall Classsic running 'til Sun 30th at Gwithian in the UK.  Here's the official PR... PRESS RELEASE Ed Sinclair reports from a chilled-out registration day at the BWA Pura Vida Cornwall wave classic. It was a glorious start to the 2011 Pura Vida Cornwall wave classic in Gwithian as the sun shone down on UK's fiercest wave riders as they registered for the fourth and final battle on the UK wave tour. There is a ferocious storm on its way so everything is in place for a classic weekend of hard-core Gwithian competition. Ben Proffitt currently holds the lead on the pro fleet having won two of the events so far this season, however with big-wave rider Phil Horrocks hot on his tail he is going to have to bring his A-game to take the title. Slightly further down the ranks and charging for their podium positions, freestyler turned wave demon Andy 'Bubble'Chambers will be throwing his sharpest turns to stay ahead of Adam Lewis and James Cox. Over in the women's fleet, super-aggressive Sarah Bibby will looking to take her third win of the season and the 2011 women's wave title, by defeating Kariina Pirhonen and Debbie Kennedy. Big things are expected from the men's amateur fleet as Aleksy Gayda, Lewis Merrony and Alfie Hart take to the sea to slash and burn their way through each heat. The master's fleet made up of the more experienced competitors currently sees Mark Lloyd with his claws on the top spot, however he is going to have to hold on tight to defeat his opponents. The contest in the youth fleet is just as hot with Tom Bennett currently leading the pack with two wins under his belt, however Liam Ellis and David Taylor will also be ready to take on the huge waves in a bid to hold onto their podium positions. There is an epic forecast on the cards for the weekend so we expect some serious action; the pro fleet will be gathering at the Sandsifter café for the skippers' meeting at 8am with a first possible start to competition at 9am. The beach will be assessed prior to the skippers to decide the competition area. Whilst registration is still open for the amateur, master, women's and youth fleet this evening between 8-10pm at the Sandsifter café. Make sure you follow all the action on Twitter @cornwallwave11 and check out all the amazing shots from Globalshots at www.globalshots.co.uk. The Cornwall wave classic is sponsored by Franklin and Marshall, hosted by Pura Vida Boardriders and the BWA, with support from No Limitz Masts, RB sails and Sandsifter, with thanks to the National Trust and Duchy of Cornwall.

URGENT - ACTION REQUIRED: Kitesurfers have been working on getting access to Ho'okipa and according to Josh Stone, who has been communicating with Maui County Council, the lifeguards and the Police, are very close to restricting the access of windsurfers as well.Signs have even been ordered by the Parks Department with the rule changes. The original 'kiter plan' is alleged to have been that if 10 surfers OR 10 windsurfers were in the water, the kiters should leave. (Windsurfers already have to follow the 10-surfer rule regardless of wind conditions).  The oonsensus is that this would allow kiters a safer environment without potential for line tangles with windsurfers. It seems now that the kiters have campaigned to be allowed access to middles - which would allow them to avoid the main Ho'okipa and point section rules - AND to have a 5-surfer rule put against the windsurfers. Sources suggest that Josh Stone is unhappy with this and that the change is not what was discussed at meetings - referred to so far as 'the gentlemen's agreement'. Serious and polite messages of opposition can be emailed urgently to Maui Councillor Mike White via his website.

The 25th Tiree Wave Classic's Head Judge, and 3-time winner, Duncan Coombs reports on the 3rd day's competition from the Scottish Island. Day 3 PR from the organisers: THREE TIME TIREE WINNER TAKES CONTROL John Skye produced a sensational comeback to take the lead at the 2011 Tiree Wave Classic. The three-time winner of the event - being held for the 25th time on the Inner Hebridean isle of Tiree, had to win eight different heats to finish the 'double elimination' stage in first place. That included beating the previous leader Ben Proffitt twice as the sun began to go down. 'It was really, really hard work but I'm super happy to be in front,' said John, who's based in Dorset. 'We've got the best guys from the UK here this year - everyone's competing - and I ended up going against almost every single person. I would say every heat could have been a final,' John said. If John- who's known as 'Skyeboy' wins this year's event he would win a fourth Tiree Wave Classic, beating a record he jointly holds with this year's Head Judge Duncan Coombs. 'I didn't do any of the other UK events this year, I had a break, but I thought it's the 25th year at Tiree, I've got to do it, and if I can win it, I can be the record holder, which to do it on the 25th would be amazing,' John said. 'If I do end up winning it, I'd be so happy. And to do it by winning eight heats, it'd be my best ever title - for ever and ever.' Cornwall's Andy King again impressed but finished the stage in third place. There was the occasional delay due to wind conditions at Balephuil, but competition was able to continue for several hours. The amateur event was also extremely keenly fought, with Pembrokeshire's Lewis Merrony climbing from third place into a 'super final' with 17-year-old Aleksy Gayda from Canvey Island. Merrony won the first of two contests against the teenager but Gayda held on to first place by winning their deciding heat. Alfie Hart, who's also from Pembrokeshire, is the third placed amateur. The 'Masters' contest also got underway, which is for amateurs aged over 40, with Mark Lloyd in the lead. In second place lies Keith Shorrocks while Essex's Dave White - a windsurf speed specialist - is third. Still in charge of the women's contest is Debbie Kennedy from Hayle in Cornwall. Sophia Joy Gilje, from Norway, is second and Finland's Kariina Perhonen third. The standings may hold all the way until results day if wind conditions drop, but judges are confident of getting plenty more action in ahead of Friday when competition is due to come to a close. Tiree is famous across the world for its outstanding conditions for windsurfing, with several sandy beaches and high average wind speeds. Press Release Meet weendy: A New Way to Catch the Wind How often have you loaded up your gear and set out for a great day on the water, only to find out that the weather forecast was wrong? You end up chasing the wind, driving around to different beaches, only to find out later that your mates found an awesome place to ride. 'The forecasts didn't predict it' they say, 'but there was a steady breeze and we rode for two straight hours!' This has happened to us too many times to count, which is why we built weendy. Our vision was to build a simple tool that would do a simple thing: help people stop chasing the wind. It took about 4 months to build and now it is available to download on the iPhone for FREE! With the weendy app, you can send and get real time information about all of the beaches that are in the area from people that are actually there. People can report if the wind is good or if it's dead and let others know where and when to hit the beach and what they can expect. Shoot video, punch in your estimation of the wind speed, and hit the share button. It ends the days of depending on a news report that might be bogus from someone in a studio, miles away from the beach. It saves so much time and frustration because you can go straight to where the wind is good without having to waste time riding around trying to catch it. The weendy app also helps you meet people in your area that like to ride (surf) at the same beaches as you do. You can tease your mates back home with all the fun you are having, especially when they have rain and you have bright blue skies and killer waves on a gorgeous beach. You can upload clips with cool moves to share with others, give tips and teach new ones. The weendy app is a great app to use; don't miss a day on the water! Â

Some stats to chew on, (Please leave comments below or mail if you know different! Thanks):  Philip Koester is the youngest ever PWA World Champ aged 17. Jose 'Gollito' Estredo was also 17 when he won the first of his 4 World Freestyle Titles but there is an age difference just of 3 weeks between them! Koester's achievement is of particular significance as Wavesailing Titles have traditionally been won by older, more experienced riders. The youngest wave champ previous to this was Kauli Seadi aged 23 (07 and 08,) and, apart from Victor Fernandez's 2010 title (aged 26),  the Wave Crown has largely been held by wiser, more battle-hardened journeymen in their 30s - such as McKercher (05) , Angulo (09) and Kevin Pritchard (06). As far as we know, Freestyler Steven Max was the youngest ever PWA competitor aged 13 - previously it was current world No2 Kiri Thode who was also 13 on debut.Of course Robby Naish and Bjoern Dunkerbeck also won titles in their teens - Naish at just 13 - but these were earned either prior to or during the days of the PBA (Professional Boardsailing Association) which was superseded by the PWA (Professional Windsurfers' Association) in 1996. Previous to Gollito's win Ricardo Campello was the youngest World Champ winning the first of his 3 Freestyle Trophies aged 19.  The Harbour Dash is a fantastic windsurfing event that has been running annually in Weymouth, UK, for over 30 years. It was founded in memory of Brian Matthews, who died in January 1986, the day after his 60th birthday. Brian learnt to windsurf in 1979, having been taught by Phil Gollop at his original set up of a few lock-ups at the end of Old Castle Road. The concept of the Harbour Dash came about because Brian was always the first for a seafaring adventure, sailing from the harbour to Overcombe or Ringstead regularly. The event has been cared for and nurtured by Norm Petty for the last decade, the prize for the winner being the Brian Matthews Memorial Cup. The format of the event is quite simple. It's a race from Overcombe to Portland Harbour, where you dip inside the wall via the north shipping channel, and back out into the bay via the east shipping channel. It's then a quick zip back to the beach, finishing the same point that you started. Whilst stuff of legend, the event has always been quite a low-key affair. The title for the fastest time has been held by local champ Adie Bugler for more than 20 years, and is crying out to be challenged. The ideal wind direction for a fast run is said to be west to north west. Will this year prove to be the year where the record is finally broken? Cost for entries is £15 on the day, covering the cost of the rescue boats. Any additional money raised will be donated to local charity - the Will Mackaness Trust, founded in memory of a young windsurfing enthusiast whose legacy has helped inspire and encourage many students from local schools into water sports. The event will take place from Overcombe car park on 2nd October. Please ensure you have paid and displayed and ready to go by 11.00am. For more information, call The OTC on +44 7817 717904, or email: info [at] otc-windsurf.com.Â

Registration is open for the prize-laden 2011 Weymouth Speed Week event sponsored by Simmer Style UK. Here's the event PR... Registration is open for WSW 2011. This year the title sponsor is Simmer Style who will be providing the majority of the prizes and underwriting the $1000 prize for anyone who breaks the harbour record set in 2008 by Anders Bringdal at 38.4 knots over the historic 500-metre course. The Legendary, Farrel O'Shea the importer of Simmer sails and Mistral boards into the UK said "Of course we are delighted to be associated with WSW this year, speed sailing has been a passion of mine for many years and the bonus is our boards and sails do well here also" There will be of course the usual categories with lots of great prizes from our sponsors to be won including the much sought after Novice windsurfing prize of a holiday, provided this year by Baker Academy and Nielsen holidays. This includes a week in Dahab with expert coaching. The youth section that can only compete on the weekend is again supported by Tushingham with a sail as a top prize. With a big amateur fleet competing, they don't go unrewarded either with a sail and board sponsorship from Simmer / Mistral up for grabs. Of course Simmer/ Mistral Tushingham/ Starboard and Fanatic/ North will be there all week with demo kit available. The week will also be the 4th round of the ISWC European speed championship tour as well as the UKWA British Spartan speed championships. So a lot to see and do with some big prizes and titles on the line. Opening Saturday night party is organised and provided by The OTC (Official Test Centre) and promises to be a great event with a band laid on. So what IS stopping you from getting down to Portland Harbour 15-21st October? WSW would like to thank the sponsors, without whose help the event would not go ahead. Simmer Style, Mistral, Tushingham/ Starboard, Baker Academy, Pura Vida, Spartan, OTC, GPS Speed.com and co.uk, AYRS, WPNSA, Weymouth Watersports, Wey and Portland council, Natural Design, Boards and Windsurf magazines

Reunion Wave Classic 2011 - PR # 1 - August 12th \"The third edition of the epic contest is on the way!\" After the success of the past two editions, the  extreme windsurfing competition \"Reunion Wave Classic\" will take place again this year from August 25 to September 5 on the best spots around St Pierre. This time, the association \"Reunion Windsurf\" and the local rider Pierre Godet will be in charge of the organization. The company Open Ocean Media, who hosted the previous circuit \"Wave Classic Invitational\", will be solely in charge of the communication on this legendary event. So far, 6 international riders have answered the call to challenge the powerful waves of the Indian Ocean: young Leon Jamaer (21/Germany), Camille Juban (21/Guadeloupe) and Jules Denel (21/France ), Tom Hartmann (31/Autriche), Julien Taboulet (31/France) and Colin Sifferlen (26/New Caledonia). Remains to be confirmed the locals that will join this year, all led by Pierre Godet (voted best local rider in 2010). 10 days of competition, free choice of the spots depending on the conditions, riders judging themselves... Time for extreme and radical moves, under the watchful eye of a video team and a professional photographer who will be there to capture their achievements. The goal is simple: have fun, push the limits of waveriding, providing a real show and promote the Reunion island through the images taken. The show will start on August 25th. In the meantime, keep in touch via our website http://www.reunionwaveclassic2011.blogspot.com recently established (already 1500 visits) as well as our Facebook page or our Twitter account.

PR - Graham Ezzy wins the Cactus Cup With four single eliminations in the bag it was decided that contest conditions were not quite up to par to run a fifth giving Graham Ezzy the title. There was still wind and waves on the final day but unless you brought your 3.7 and were prepared to wait for the proper set to arrive it just wasn't fair for everyone. It was a great call by head judge Matt Pritchard. So instead Pritchard send heats out for an Expression Session to battle for a Chinook Carbon boom. The competition was intense and the Expert final saw Kevin Pritchard, Graham Ezzy, Nathan Mershon, Russ Faurot and Royn Bartholdi all head out to the far side of the island to throw their biggest jumps. In a surprise finish Faurot dominated the heat landing countless Back Loops, Push Loops and a huge Stalled Forward. Yossi Salomon took the Amateur title and Miho took the women's crown with impressive loops in the tough conditions. Filmed by Kevin Pritchard, Ben Dann, Ruben Lemmens

FLOW (For Ladies Of Watersports) and W4CR (Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research) have teamed up to  provide 'Go with the FLOW: For Female Cancer Care' a fun day on the water for budding to experienced waterwomen, with a whole host of exciting activities raising money for Breast Cancer Care and ovarian cancer research run by Cancer Research UK.  'Go with the FLOW: For Female Cancer Care' will take place on Saturday 24th September 2011, at Hove Lagoon Watersports  http://www.hovelagoon.co.uk  and will include a morning yoga with waterwoman  and health guru Caroline Radway  www.fitbodyfix.com , learn to windsurf, wake board and SUP sessions from female instructors, intermediate and advanced windsurfing coaching from FLOW's top Hunk Sam Ross  www.sam-ross.co.uk , demo equipment, music, cakes, a movie and more!   The highlight of the day is set to be the 'Blast 4 Breast Cancer' where all the ladies will hit the water, for a team relay race, with legs on both the lagoon and sea (condition dependent!) so ALL levels of waterwomen can take part and be in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes. You can enter as a Team of 4, or enter as an individual/pair and we will put you in touch with potential team mates. We are encouraging teams to use the Blast as a fundraising opportunity, getting your friends/family to show their support for your team through sponsorship which will be donated directly to Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK ovarian cancer projects by W4CR.  More details for team entrance and fundraising will be on www.flowatersports.com     Don't worry guys you can be involved too! We are more than happy to welcome watermen along that support the fairer sex, you can enter and take part in many of the activities available on the day. We are keeping all coaching sessions for ladies only, however you can soak up the atmosphere, hit the water, eat cake and even enter the 'Blast 4 Breast Cancer', if you have a penchant for pink and a blonde wig that is!  To be part of a fantastic festival atmosphere, while learning some new skills and hanging out at the beach with a relaxed group of friendly surfer chicks simply head to www.flowatersports.com for full details and to enter. Cost of entry is £10 (for all activities and coaching excluding wakeboarding, £20 (for all activities and coaching including wakeboarding) plus a minimum donation of £10 to the registered charity W4CR.  What is FLOW?  FLOW is an organisation set up in June 2010 by former professional windsurfer, coach and personal trainer, Amy Carter. FLOW aims to unite females in windsurfing, SUP, wakeboarding, etc to share our knowledge and passion for the water, as well as pushing the message that these often male dominated sports are fantastic for women too. Online www.flowatersports.com has a vast array of articles covering health, fitness, technique, location guides, kit bag, interviews with inspirational waterwomen and the very well received Hunk of the Month, all by women, specifically for women. Offline Amy delivers watersports events and coaching, combining with her work as a personal trainer, Amy concentrates on conveying the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle, enabling women to make positive changes in lives, and increasing the opportunities for ladies to be active participants in watersports, particularly windsurfing.  Amy says: 'Go with the FLOW: For Female Cancer Care' has been a rough idea of mine for a few years now, and it feels fantastic that all the thoughts and planning are now coming into fruition. I really hope that as many ladies as possible will make their way to Hove for what will be a fantastic day, even if you have never set foot in the sea before, don't worry! Everything will be provided and you will learn new, exciting sports in a safe and relaxed environment, with lots of other like minded women. I cannot wait, hope to see you there!' What is W4CR? FUNDING RESEARCH, SUPPORTING CANCER CARE AND EDUCATION > Windsurfing4CancerResearch (W4CR) was set up as a registered Charity by windsurfer David Tuttlebee in March 2009 to increase awareness of cancer and funding research, supporting cancer care and education. Since 2009 W4CR has raised over £120,000 from fundraising charity events. The beneficiaries have been Cancer Research UK (Bowel and Skin cancer projects), Breast Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Care, Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign, John Hartson Foundation and other hospices. Brian (W4CR Trustee) says: Go with the FLOW: For Female Cancer Care is a wonderful fundraising event, the beneficiaries are Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK (Ovarian cancer research project) and September 24th at Hove will be the 'first ever'of its kind and a great opportunity for ladies of water sports to join together and have a truly fun  'fundraising' day for such great causes!Â

Here's the event preview PR and Trailer Clip for the upcoming El Medano PWA World Cup in Tenerife. The contest runs July 14th to 20th and will feature live webcasting. Dedicated event website: tenerifepwa.comEvent Preview: Gear up for some insane aerial acrobatics and slick wave riding as the world's most extreme sailors head to the stunning island of Tenerife for round two on the men and women's wave tour. Tenerife boasts year round sunshine, consistent winds and pumping swell, making it the perfect choice for the next stop on the PWA World Tour. The wave fleet will descend onto the shores of Tenerife for a six-day wave sailing extravaganza, taking place on the ruffled waters of the Atlantic Ocean from the 14th through to the 20th July. The sailors will be busting their most daring maneuvers in order to claim their share of the Euro45,000 prize purse, and to gain precious points towards their overall world ranking. El Medano - the low down The beautiful town of El Medano in Southern Tenerife will play host to the competition and is the home town of wave king and event organizer Dany Bruch (Starboard / Severne / AL 360). The PWA caught up with Dany to provide us with the insider's eye on what to expect in the coming seven days of competition. The conditions "It is an amazing spot, the wave is a left hander and it is formed at a point break, usually you can fit in three or four frontside turns. The wind is a little lighter than in Pozo, I sail on 4.2m or 4.7m for the majority of the time." Moves to expect "The jumping is really great in El Medano, the wave comes straight at you so you can go really high. We can expect to see super-fast double forwards and massive backloops, but I think the wave riding will be the most impressive thing as a lot of the sailors prefer that... just watch out for the rocks!" Beachside "There will be loads to do at the site; there is a large sandy area behind the beach away from the wind where the main tent will be. During the day the tent will be a chill out area with smoothies provided and really comfy chairs, but at night it will all change and become the party area with some great DJ's coming down to entertain the crowds. Alongside all of that we also have a seven meter climbing wall, loads of stands for the local surf shops and restaurants, a Canarian football kicking stand and a massage crew. We even have the chance to win a Renault Clio. There will be heaps going on and it promises to be loads of fun." Who to watch? Men's Fleet Philip Koster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Dakine) stole the show in Pozo and won the first event of the year. Expect to see ankle dry pushloop forwards from Koster and perhaps another attempt at the triple forward loop. He is sure to be going big in order to defend his position at the top of the ranks. The 2010 world wave champion Victor Fernandez Lopez (Fanatic / North / MFC) will be hoping to break past the wonder kid Koster in order to re-assert himself at the top of the pile. Fernandez Lopez is famous for his smooth wave riding and radical backside 360's. High-risk wave rider Dario Ojeda (Tabou / Simmer / Dakine / MFC) delivered an incredible show in Pozo, defeating many of the big names in the double elimination to earn himself third on the overall scores. Expect to see Ojeda smacking the lip at the last minute to earn extra points from the judges. The freestyler turned wave champ Ricardo Campello (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) will be hungry for revenge after a tough round in Pozo saw him slip down into fourth. Make sure you have your camera ready for Campello's huge aerials and super-fast double forward loops. In between ensuring everything is running smoothly local ripper Dany Bruch (Starboard / Severne / AL360) will be making use of his local knowledge to destroy his opponents, with his aggressive wave rides and mind-blowing wave 360's. Other extreme sailors that are likely to wow the crowds are Brazilians Kauli Seadi (JP /NeilPryde) and Marcilio Browne (Fanatic / North / MFC), Brit Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde) and the Australian high flyer Jaeger Stone (Severne). Women's Fleet Having retained her title in Pozo for the twelfth year, Daida Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) will be looking to continue with her winning streak in Tenerife. Daida stormed into first place in Pozo landing an incredible double forward loop and the most impressive front side aerial of the competition. Hot on her heels, twin sister Iballa Ruano Moreno (Starboard / Severne) will be giving it everything she has got to knock her sister down from the top spot. Iballa is certainly not afraid of going for the largest maneuvers if it means she scores maximum points. Having stormed through the fleet in Pozo, Karin Jaggi (Patrik / Severne) sits in third; she will be looking to fend off any advances from the rest of the fleet with her flawless forward loops. Nayra Alonso (Fanatic / Severne) famed for her elegant bottom turns and precise cutbacks will be taking advantage of Tenerife's longer rides in order to make her way into the top three. Also in the mix and challenging for the top ten will be Silvia Alba Orozco, Evi Tsape (F2 / North), Laure Treboux (Fanatic / North) and Alice Arutkin (Starboard / North). Live Streaming The PWA is proud to announce that the entire 2011 El Medano Tenerife World Cup will be streamed live via PWA TV on www.pwaworldtour.com. Weather depending, coverage of day one of competition is scheduled to begin at 2pm Thursday 14th July (UTC +1), when the sailors first take to the water. The Formula Windsurfing Class sent their Event Summary from the 2011 World Championships in Puerto Rico. Antoine Albeau - Formula Windsurfing World Champion 2011 6 race wins, 4 seconds and 2 thirds netted Antoine Albeau a 22 point lead at the end of the 2011 Puerto Rico Formula Windsurfing Championships and he retains the title of men's Formula Windsurfing Champion. Final Results Arnon Dagan, taking 3 bullets from 4 starts today finally showed us the dominating speed he had whilst we were testing the week before the event. Arnon dragged back 2nd overall after today (his best result in a FW World Championships) knocking out the super consistent Gabriel Browne, who had a couple of 4th's and a 7th today to keep on the podium in 3rd overall. In the Women's Fleet, Marion Lepert, USA 143, was first lady in 9 of the races and took top spot ahead of Morane Demont, FRA 59, pushing her hard with six race wins - so just three points in it. Ana Sofia Cardoso from Brazil took third place. The organisers have done a great job here in Puerto Rico, definitely put on a great event and the conditions during the week were very conducive of great racing. Particular thanks to the locals who took that extra step to help out a lot of us sailors with all sorts of non-racing related requests we had too! And to round off proceedings, a fabulous prizegiving ceremony in Old San Juan.

All you need to know from Day 1 and about the 2011 ISLAS CANARIAS COSTA TEGUISE PWA WORLD CUP Freestyle.(Men Only). Day 1 Ticker Eliminations so far Event Forecast2011 Costa Teguise Lanzarote World Cup Day 1: The world's greatest freestyle sailors descend on to the golden sands of Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, however fluctuating conditions led to a gentle start to competition. The opening day of competition in Lanzarote kicked off to a relaxing start, allowing the sailors to prepare their equipment and focus their minds on the challenges ahead. Once the formalities of registration and the skippers meeting were completed the trade winds had risen to around 15-20 knots allowing the competitors to hit the water at 2pm on the dot and the action to unfold. On sails around 5.3m, the sailors ploughed their way through the opening nineteen heats of the single elimination. However as the afternoon progressed the wind retreated forcing competition on hold until the riders were ultimately released at 5pm. The initial rounds of the competition saw many of the top sailors display their most mind-blowing tricks to dispose of their opponents and to express their dominance on the Canary Islands. Belgian freestyle extraordinaire Steven Van Broeckhoven (F2 / Gaastra) quickly defeated Jakub Kosmowski (RRD / Simmer) and Quincy Offringa (Starboard) with his enormous Culos and Konos. Kiri Thode (Starboard / Gaastra) also looked to be on great form, filling his score sheet in record time against Edvan De Souza Pedro (RRD / Simmer) granting his pass into the semi-finals. Fellow Bonaire superstar Taty Frans (Starboard / MauiSails / Mystic) also looked to be comfortable in the difficult conditions sailing an unbelievable heat to defeat Andy Chambers (JP / NeilPryde), landing almost every move in his book of tricks to secure his access into the third round. Round two saw a close heat between rivals, Davy Scheffers (Tabou / Gaastra) and Dieter Van Der Eyken (Starboard / Severne). Van Der Eyken opened the heat on fine form delivering a colossal kono and a shaka whilst Scheffers struggled to fit his big moves in. The second half of the heat saw the tables turn, Van Der Eyken had run out of steam, whilst Scheffers was on the way up as he performed a perfect air bob and double spock in the choppy waters. Leaving the judges with a tough decision, ultimately Scheffers was the chosen one seeing him secure his place in the next round. The big upset of the day came between Anthony Ruenes (Tabou / Simmer) and Tonky Frans (Tabou / Gaastra). The sailors each sailed an exceptional heat, landing all the big moves with faultless precision. Tonky separated the pair with the first back loop of the competition; however Ruenes quickly fought back with a gigantic one-handed shaka, and a no-handed funnel. It came down to a 2-1 decision from the judges and just half a point separating the sailors in favor of Ruenes. The final heat in the second round featuring, Israel's Yarden Meir (Fanatic / Simmer) vs. four times world champion Jose Estredo (Fanatic / North) and Yegor Popretinskiy (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) vs. Brazil's Ian Mouro Lemos (JP / NeilPryde) was run twice but was cancelled due to fading winds. The action will continue tomorrow with skipper's meeting commencing at 10:30 am first possible start to competition at 11am. Trevor Funnel sent this PR from the UKWA Mumbles Freestyle. 25/26 June 2011 - won by Adam Sims. For the third event in the UK Freestyle tour we travelled to the other end of the world, well no it was just Mumbles in Swansea Bay but it felt like a long way from Sussex to me as I went via Cornwall for a few days. Arriving on Friday I checked out the area and cycled all the way from Swansea to Mumbles looking for possible venues and immediately noticed a small problem, water, there just wasn't any at low tide except right round at Mumbles. It looked like the only place that would work in the promised South Westerlies was near Swansea and would only have a little water right at the top of the neap tide. On Saturday after registration and with a surprisingly good entry in all fleets the wind seemed to swing just a little into the North West and funneled gustily down the valley just to the North of Mumbles. After sending out some wind dummys our head judge Julian Da Vall decided it was going to be possible to run something off the Mumbles seafront, which turned out to be a really good call. We set an increased transition time to allow the sailors to get out to the wind line and ran long heats to give them enough time to get in a decent number of moves in the gusts. Judging was done with the help of spotters through binoculars and it worked. Two full rounds were completed in dull, flat but gusty and testing conditions before a late lunch was called and the wind finally died away. As usual a wide range of moves were being made across all the fleets including an excellent double flaka diablo by Oscar Carmichael but the move of the day for me was undoubtedly Adam Sims absolutely perfect Funnell even though some people said his Culo should score higher. Sunday dawned as forecast hot and sunny with very light South Easterlies and it didn't look like anything was going to happen at all until around one o clock when the wind suddenly kicked up a couple of notches, the racers sprang into action and sails were seen all over the bay. We decided on an Expression Session and the freestylers took to the water only to find the wind just not quite strong enough for them to plane, old school freestyle on shortboards was fun to watch though and Nic Hibdige was deemed to be the winner with a combination move that we didn't even have a name for so just drew in hieroglyphics on our judging sheets.    Pro Fleet Winner.                  Adam Sims Amateur  Winner.                 James Wheeldon Youth Winner.                       Alex Mitchell Junior Winner.                       Oscar Carmichael Minim Winner.                       Harry Davis. Many thanks to Phil and Danielle of getwindsurfing.com for spotting assistance and the excellent photos considering the conditions, to Ben for his help in judging, to Linda for tabulation and to the Dads' Club for flags and timing. Trevor Funnell.  Â

The Day 3 report and winners' finals clips from the 25th Anniversary PWA Aruba Hi Winds Grand Slam Freestyle. When the live webcasting is on you can also watch the stream right here. Here's the PWA Report by Ed Sinclair2011 Aruba Hi Winds Grand Slam Day 3: The Aruba Hi Winds erupts into action seeing Steven Van Broeckhoven and Sarah-Quita Offringa emerge victorious in the single elimination. Aruba disposed of its dark cloak of clouds, and unveiled the glorious conditions that have engraved it on the map as one of the world's finest windsurfing locations. With wall to wall sunshine and crystal clear turquoise water providing the perfect playground for a freestyle frenzy, the Caribbean trade wind's kicked in like clockwork and continued to build throughout the day. Eager to take advantage of the breeze the PWA crew wasted no time in heading out to sea and putting the sailors into competition sequence. With the gusty wind blowing between 15-20 knots the heats were extended to nine minutes, and it was decided the best three out of six moves in either direction would count toward the sailor's scores. A turbulent day of competition saw a number of highly ranked sailors lose out unexpectedly in the early heats, as they struggled to dial into the conditions. Andy 'Bubble' Chambers (JP / NeilPryde) fell to the hands of Tilo Eber (JP / NeilPryde). Next up robot Russian Yegor Popretinskiy (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) lost out to young Bonaire go-getter Youp Schmit (JP / NeilPryde / Dakine), and in the same heat consistent Canadian, Phil Soltysiak (Starboard / Dakine) was unable hold his own against the might of Julien Mas (Patrik / Hot Sails). Mas was charging hard and took the day by storm, destroying his challengers one by one as he worked his way into the top 8 and secured himself 5th place in the event after the single elimination. In the semi-finals arch rivals Steven Van Broeckhoven (F2 / Gaastra) and Kiri Thode (Starboard / Gaastra) took to the water. Fuelled by his second place in Bonaire Van Broeckhoven brought a series of outstanding combination moves to the table. Taking advantage of the nine minute heat, he timed each maneuver to perfection securing his way passed a devastated Thode. On the other side of the heat Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic / North) faced the style master Tonky Frans (Tabou / Gaastra). Frans fought hard, having just taken down his brother Taty Frans (Starboard / MauiSails / Mystic) in the previous heat he was firing on all cylinders unleashing his biggest moves. It did little to phase the four times world champion Estredo as he sailed a well-planned out heat granting his pass into the winner's final. Winner's Final Van Broeckhoven and Estredo entered the final both hungry for victory. Van Broeckhoven opened with a funnel, which was upstaged by Estredo's double. The sailors then embarked on a game of one up man-ship as the opening minutes of the heat flew by. Van Broeckhoven separated the pair with an enormous kono, Estredo took that as his cue to unleash his more ferocious moves, landing an incredible spock culo and a burner 900 in quick succession. Both sailors fought tooth and nail, busting out everything in their armor of tricks but ultimately a 3-2 decision from the judges crowned Van Broeckhoven as the winner. Women's Fleet Opening up the women's heat's experienced competitors Laure Treboux (Fanatic / North) and Yoli De Brendt (Fanatic / North) pushed ahead of Mio Anayama (NeilPryde) and Maxime Van Gent with their display of consistent switch stance maneuvers, seeing them make their way quickly into the semi-finals. On the other side of the elimination Xenia Kessler (JP / NeilPryde) took down Arrianne Aukes (RRD / Simmer) for the first time, having lost out to her four times in Bonaire. Kessler looked to favor the slightly choppier water and the stronger winds of Aruba. In the semi-finals Treboux quickly disposed of De Brendt displaying a particularly impressive heat, she landed a clean shove-it spock and a high switch kono. Meanwhile Offringa appeared to be in the zone claiming a shaka, and an array of switch maneuvers as she worked her way past Kessler. Winner's Final The final once again came down to the duo of Treboux and Offringa, with both sailors well aware of each other's tactics and trade mark moves. Opening up the heat both women struggled to land their initial moves, however as the minutes passed by Offringa relaxed and flew through her routine taking advantage of her home knowledge to land her tricks to perfection. Stylish Treboux fought back with her one handed e-slider and switch kono, but it was too little too late. Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Gaastra / Mystic) "I feel great, I started the day helping with the commentary on the beach so that really relaxed me and I didn't worry too much about my heat. My first heat was good but the second heat was great. I sailed really well landing all my switch moves and a shaka, I really enjoyed it. In the final I was quite nervous and I didn't sail as well as I could, but I still landed some big moves and I won. I am really happy with the result." Events Results Men's Freestyle single elimination 1st Steven Van Broeckhoven (Gaastra / F2) 2nd Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic / North) 3rd Kiri Thode (Starboard / Gaastra) 4th Tonky Frans (Tabou / Gaastra) Women's Freestyle single elimination 1st Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Gaastra / Mystic) 2nd Laure Treboux (Fanatic / North) 3rd Yoli De Brendt (Fanatic / North) 4th Xenia Kessler (JP / NeilPryde) Wanting to make tracks into the double elimination head Judge Duncan Coombs wasted no time in restarting the competitions, however it was a battle against the fading conditions as the wind only allowed two heats to be completed. The sailors were released at 6:00 pm. The final day of the freestyle will commence at 9:30 am with the skippers meeting and a first possible start to competition at 10am.

A few months down the line and we are thrilled to be able to report that Mark Angulo is now riding for Black Project Fins and is already working closely with Tom so that we can continue to develop the range and ensure that our goal of making the best fins possible is realized.   When Mark first tried his new fins this was his response: 'So I put on the 14s as a twin setup on my new 7'1" and let me just say it worked out very nicely. My first real day on a new board and I would expect some weirdness, first time with new fins, should have been some drama or adjusting. Not even. Huge Mutants, Fat 360s, Giant Goiters, all day. Super happy with your fins. No trips on the bottom turns, nice action, grippy, yet releasing when I push. Sick!' Since then he has gone on to try a number of different set ups and we'll be reporting back about his testing and ideas another day so stay tuned. Thanks to Mark's radical style and desire to break norms his custom board range is becoming increasingly popular in Hawaii and further afield so we are pleased to also announce at this time that Mark Angulo Customs  will now be available complete with Black Project Fins as standard. We are thrilled that our two growing Hawaiian businesses can work together to ensure that you get the best gear possible. Mark is riding combinations of the WaveMULTI and WaveTHRUSTERS grab yours in the store today and find out for yourself what a difference Black Project Fins will make to your wave sailing.   Author: Chris Freeman / Black Project Fins

Epic Sessions produced this clip from a test of real time Jump-Off action that was lined-up for the Oxbow Ride the Sky Jump event, cancelled due to lack of wind. Here's the PR and Clip: In a world where GPS has become a standard for tracking practically anything or anyone, there are certain cases where the rough approximation of 10ft associated with GPS just doesn't cut it. Explosive, high impact action sports such as windsurfing, snowboarding, kiteboarding, and more require technology that can withstand forces associated with 60ft+ jumps, high-g impacts, lightning fast spins, and more with incredible accuracy. EpicSessions.tv continues to pioneer a new era in action sports by utilizing a new technology that can not only measure a rider's performance in 3D to within 0.10 ft accuracy, but can also broadcast their performance in real-time! As the month long holding period for the Oxbow Ride The Sky- Presented by Naish, drew to a close, conditions didn't present themselves to hold the official event. That didn't stop the EpicSessions.tv crew on Wednesday April 27th from holding a live test of the realtime jump data system and we opened up the livestream video to the world as we let the world's best windsurfers get wired with the latest in sports motion capture technology. The concept is simple- take the best riders and cut them loose on the water with the goal to hit the highest jumps possible. The technical challenge is anything but simple. EpicSessions.tv had to equip the riders with technology that measures their performance in realtime and transmit the jump data to our servers back on the mainland and then world-wide to the audience online. Huge props to all the riders for their patience, feedback and stoke about our little project. Their stoke feeds ours and in turn, drives us to create products that enrich their experiences and spread their stoke across the globe. It was an amazing day. We were scheduled for 2 hours and ended up broadcasting for 4+ hours and the riders had a gas doing what they do best. Going big, hanging with their friends and just having fun. No worries about getting screwed by the judges. After all, if you wanna win, all you gotta do is go bigger than anyone else, no BS. It's objective scoring at its best, and it showed as the riders were relaxed and stoked as when they went big, except if their buddies boosted even higher! We have a lot more in store this summer, not only in Windsurfing, but in other sports as well. We invite you to stay tuned as we venture into uncharted territories with this groundbreaking technology. The results are as follows: Leo Ray- 28.2 ft Jesse Brown- 25.3 ft Junko- 15.7 ft Levi Siver- 21.6 ft Brawzinho- 30.9 ft Patrick- 21.76 ft Bernd- 20.5 ft Fillippi- 28.39 ft Francisco Porcella- 25.53 ft Ricardo Campello- 31.32 ft Kai K.- 18.3 ft Jason Polakow- 35.8 ft Nico- 26.5 ft Glen- 21.34 ft Diego- 24.5 ft Timo Mullen - 20.8 ft Oxbow Ride the Sky Facebook PageÂ

The latest clip from the Ziviney Gang of Windsurfers based on the German Island of Norderney doing their National Service! After a series of clips they made longer movie! Here's the story in their own words: When Meikel first uttered the idea of making a movie about surfing and our live as civilian service-guys on the island Norderney we were a bit sceptic. It did not sound really easy. And we were right. We did not know how to approach such a project and we had little experience in filming. There were lots of things to consider. How to film, how much zoom, which angle and so on. Due to the fact that we were a group of around 20 people it was difficult to manage and coordinate all the things which had to be done. First we needed to catch good action, kind of problematic when you have to consider working time and the tide. And who wants to stand on the beach when the others rock the water??! Filming in winter was especially difficult because the Cam gave up after 15 minutes and you could not move your fingers any more. The Ziviney-Project grew consistently. We got sponsored by Panasonic with 2 Cams, got a lot of support from other people, had several articles in newspapers and there was our blog ziviney.de which had to be kept up to date. We decided to give the project a structure. We formed groups of 2 to 4 people to split up the work. This helped us a lot when we came to the point where we had to create a story, increase the PR, chose the music, work on the special effects and start to create the movie from all the different pieces. Again we needed to get information on how to do the cutting, how to use different programs and how to do Slowmotion and other specialeffects. The thing which was most difficult was an effect we created with a special construction and the introduction of the riders which appear during the movie. Our computers had a hard time converting unbelievable amounts of data and sometimes we were close to a crash. Finally, after almost eight months, the movie is finished. Our intention was to give the people outside a glimpse on the time we spent together on Norderney with all its different aspects of life. We believe that the movie pretty nice lives up to that. Enjoy it!!

A new 'Delta Wing' Fin concept from Maui Ultra Fins. Here's the unedited Press Release... DELTA - the shape to come? Maui Ultra Fins next generation fin under test on Maui As three years ago with the revolutionary X-Fin series, Maui Ultra Fins has yet again another radical fin design under development which is currently under test on Maui, Hawaii. With the new DELTA WING SERIES all advantages of delta wings as they are known from supersonic fighter type aircraft applications have been transferred to fins. The specific features are: fast by allowing relatively very thin foils pointing extremely high angle of attack possible due to flow enhancement by leading edge vortices jibing provides very stable and fast jibing super short no control problems due to long span (e.g. 95 l board can be sailed with 16 cm Delta fin compared to a 30 cm Ride fin) weed resistant due to the high rake of 55 degrees shallow water resistant due to short length very mild spin-out behaviour due to leading edge vortices In summary, the DELTA WING SERIES promises a universal fin for windsurfing, surfing and kiting with a wide range of applications as wave freestyle, ride, slalom and speed. The DELTA fin on its way to revolutionize board sailing again.Â

Seems there was some misunderstanding on certain newsgroups and forums about Boujmaa Guilloul's situation with insurance cover after his recent accident. Here's Bouj's clarification in his own words. Hi everyone, this is just an update of my situation, after my accident, I ve been looked after very well, from my friend in the water, trough the hospital and now back home, I was very lucky to be surrounded by such good people, I thank them all so much.. I dont think I will be here trying my crazy stunts if my sponsors were not around, I owe them lot.. Our agreement always said that I had to have my own insurance coming to such places, in fact, Mr Svein the boss of Starboard was ready to cover my bill in the MM Hospital, and I knew I could relay on him about such matters, but I also knew I had to have a travel insurance when coming to the states, Right now am out of the hospital and everything feels good so happy I am alive thanks to Klaas and Ferdinando, I owe them my life... I think my bill been taken care of by the insurance company, have not heard much about it so far, but thanks for the windsurf scene so worried about me and concerned about how it was gonna be paid, I just think there is no need to blame my sponsors and the industry, they re here to support us traveling and windsurfing, doing what we love the most, and each one of us has to have an insurance program, the easiest way to be able to go crazy in places where we travel the most such as Maui.. it was my worried friends idea to create a support account to prevent me to fall in any problems where I can't pay hospital expenses, but I was so shocked by then to decided and let them do for me, and realize later I had 2 different insurance subscriptions, either one had to work. Now I am back on my feet waiting for my hand to heal and be back in the water... I wont stop my chase to the triple loup here, knowing we re many trying to get there, but next time i will wear at least a wetsuit and helmet for it

Moroccan stuntman Boujmaa Guilloul had a nasty accident at Ho'okipa over the weekend of 10/11th April. According to some reports, Bouj went for a triple forward, but the crash knocked him out and he was treated for concussion, water in the lungs, and had stitches plus a cut lip. German PWA star Klas Voget was first to spot the 26-yr old who was apparently starting to sink underwater. Swift action by Voget and the Ho'okipa Beach Park lifeguards saw him delivered to the beach and Emergency Room safely. Everyone hopes to see Bouj back on and above the water soon.Even though he has insrance it sounds like Bouj's hospital bills will be pretty high - you can make a donation at this support page to help one of our sport's most progressive characters get back out doing what he does best!

JP-AUSTRALIA SIGNS YOUP SCHMIT (NED-27). JP is happy to announce that Youp Schmit, 2009 Pro Kids Freestyle World Champion joins the JP team and will become the figure head of the JP Young Gun team. Born 1995 in the Netherlands, Youp grew up on the beautiful island of Bonaire, which today is a Freestyle top spot for people from all over the world. Thus, he soon came in contact with the sport, started to windsurf in 2005/06 and immediately fell in love with it. On an average day he hits the water right after school at about 1\'clock and sails with Kiri, Taty and Tonky and other friends. So, he really spent very much time on the water and no wonder he improved rapidly to soon celebrate his first successes. In 2009 young Schmit won his first Freestyle event -the Pro Kids World Championship- and already participated in the Fuerteventura World Cup in 2010 where he impressively finished 17th! Today NED-27 is one of the top talents of Freestyle and some compare his style and sailing with the one of young Ricardo Campello. JP-Australia noticed Youp\'s great potential and signed him up. Being such an outstanding and stylish rider at only 16, Youp now is the top JP Young Gun and will be one of the top rider in the JP freestyle team. This year Youp Schmit will participate on several of the PWA tour stops and he also will join the Young Guns camp in Prasonisi in August. We wish him a great year and a bright future!
