Why Join the Irish Windsurfing Association?

The IWA represents YOUR sport for the safety and enjoyment of us all.  It provides the forum through which YOUR views can be represented.  The association is run solely for the benefit of windsurfers. The IWA facilitates and approves windsurfing events (competitions, coaching and recreational) throughout the year.  Approved events are included in the IWA Calendar of Events which is maintained on this site. The events include:
• Wave Sailing,
• Freestyle Sailing,
• Slalom Racing,
• Speed Sailing,
• Junior Development, Racing and Coaching for Under 17 year olds,
• Recreational Events, Fun and Coaching.

Events cater for all levels of skill.  Organisers put huge efforts into the provision of safe and well organised events that provide not only for the development of our sport but for the enjoyment of serious competitors and fun sailors alike. The IWA depends on part-time, unpaid, volunteers who give their time and energy to organise events, raise funds for safety equipment, coaching and administration, build websites to improve communication, the list is endless.  The association needs YOUR membership not only to provide the funds to do these tasks but also to provide a “credible” lobby (of members) when seeking assistance from the Irish Sailing Association (ISA), the Sports Council, potential sponsors, etc.  (In recent times the association made representations to the Minister of Marine, ensuring that windsurfers were exempt from the law concerning mandatory wearing of Personal Flotation Devices.)Third Party Liability Insurance cover is included for all members.
Cover is provided anywhere in the world and the limit of indemnity is currently set at €6,500,000 per incident.
