Round 2 of the Irish Slalom Series held on the 17/18th May was held in 15-knots of wind in glorious sunshine. It was run by the IWA powered by and hosted by Jamie Knox Watersports in the sandy Scraggane Bay, Mahrees, Castlegregory, Co. Kerry. Here is a short video of the event - thanks to Marc Von Blumenkraft for putting it together - and results.
The IWA is proud to announce a very exciting development within the Association. We have aligned ourselves with , one of Irelands leading energy providers, as our major sponsor for the 2014 season. It is exciting times for the IWA as we continue to develop growth in our sport, and with this support from Energia we will be able to increase our exposure."
"is delighted to be partnering with the IWA for 2014. We too are experts at harnessing wind energy and 25% of Ireland’s total wind power comes through Energia. We look forward to supporting IWA and their exciting programme of events in the year ahead.
There are 3 Kona boards available now on the ISA SailFleet program. Most of you probably know of the SailFleet dinghies, this will run in a similar format and hopefully it is something we can build on if the demand for it is demonstrated. Details are available here:
Having the Konas at an event would make a good light wind alternative and this worked well at the slalom event in Malahide last year (they can even be used for SUPing in no wind). They were put to good use in the Round Cobh race last weekend being loaned out to 3 participants. If you’ve any questions contact the ISA or Cormac.
