The IWA represents YOU, and YOUR sport, on the island of Ireland. We focus on maximising the safety, engagement and enjoyment for all of our members. We unashamedly ask you to support the IWA by becoming a member and getting involved—whether at events or simply through our online platforms.
Why Join? The Real Reason
At its core, joining the IWA is about something bigger than any single benefit—it’s about supporting the sport we all love.
Windsurfing has given us incredible experiences, friendships, and unforgettable days on the water. But for it to thrive, we need to actively support and grow it.
The IWA has restarted the Regional Youth Championships in 2026, with the goal of introducing windsurfing to kids and teenagers. We also run beginner-friendly initiatives and outreach to maintain a steady flow of new riders into the sport, and we support non-windsurfing parents in joining the IWA and help them navigate their children's progression.
Our sport is simply too good not to be shared.

Strength in Numbers
It is only a matter of time before access or regulation issues affect your local beach or lake. When that happens, the IWA is there to represent you and protect your right to enjoy the water.
Here are a few examples of why your support matters:
Local Council bye-laws restricting access. The IWA helped stop or amend restrictive bye-laws that would have banned watersports.
COVID Lockdowns: Successfully lobbied for exemptions allowing watersports
Upcoming Legislation: Working to ensure fair rules around weather warning restrictions
Without a strong, united organisation, these outcomes simply wouldn’t happen.

Insurance Cover is included
Often overlooked—but incredibly important.
All IWA members receive Third Party Insurance Cover across Europe, with indemnity up to €6,500,000 per incident.
Accidents can happen—whether it’s equipment causing damage or injury to others. This cover gives you peace of mind for less than €0.90 per week.
Member Benefits
IWA members also receive FREE membership of the Irish Sailing Association (ISA), unlocking additional benefits and resources.
