Nationals — Alan Harris Cup

A bright, still morning greeted the 14 competitors at MYC Broadmeadows in Malahide Estuary. The fleet — comprising Junior, Youth, Senior and Grand Master categories — rigged their Kona sails of all sizes in anticipation of the day ahead. Newcomers questioned how these unusually long boards would handle, while past champions eyed up their opposition and made last-minute repairs.

⛵ 13th Kona National Championships – Race Report 🏆

Malahide Yacht Club hosted the 13th Kona National Championships on Sunday 11th October, sponsored by Surfdock.

The wind began to fill in, and after a briefing from Race Officer Niall Gallagher, the sailors made their way to the start line for 4 keenly contested races in a SE breeze that continued to build throughout the afternoon. Drama ensued in race one, with gear failure and a rule infringement marking the result. The racing was close — as the final results were counted, only a single point separated first and second!

🏆 Results:

🥇 Joe Galeckas – Kona National Champion 2026
🥈 Vladimir Filatov
🥉 Guy Molyneux

👏 Category Winners:

Junior: Iollan Day, Kate Broderick and Roisin Kim-O’Rourke
Youth: Fionn Lynch
Grand Master: Gregory Day

Congratulations to all competitors and a big thanks to Malahide Yacht Club and Surfdock for making it happen!
